Many women in their late 40's have cheap glasses given birth via in-vitro fertilization (IVF) but have had to use frozen or donor eggs.
Now a 46-year-old Orlando woman is the oldest mother in the U.S., and maybe even in the world, to give birth to a baby through IVF using her own fresh eggs, reported by Reuters on Tuesday.
Belinda Slaughter, now 47, gave birth to her first child back in September, her doctor, Mark Trolice shared in an interview on Tuesday.
Slaughter, who named the boy Jackson, delivered a child without chromosomal abnormalities, which increase with maternal age.
"She had a guardian angel watching over this pregnancy from the get-go," Trolice said.
The case should be considered an anomaly, said Stan Williams, chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Florida's medical school. cheap oakley glasses "I'm hoping that women in their mid-40s aren't going to look at this and say 'Oh, I can do that too.' Williams said the university's in-vitro program does not accept women over 43, due to the low odds of success, and medical and financial risks.
